Passover
Before arrived the 8 days’ holiday,
It seemed as though t’would never pass me by.
And yet, how quickly did days fall away?
And just as soon as it arrived…goodbye.
Away are packed the puzzles and the games,
For next time that we meet is yet unplanned.
Impatient for the day my mother names,
The one on which we will together band.
And feelings at the end are bittersweet,
To gather us again, what will it take?
Enough to guarantee we all will meet?
And just my plan ensures that none will flake.
To assemble all, I know just the thing!
For a man to give me a diamond ring!
I really like the content of your poem, how challenging it is to have family gather, and how special it is when it does happen. I like your use of ellipses "arrived...goodbye." Couplet at the end is funny!
